About Mobile Japanese Garden

We are a free public educational natural Japanese Garden. The Japanese Ambassador and Emperor is very proud of our continued development of the largest natural urban Japanese garden in America. We are the Sister City to Ichihara Japan. This open informal garden was started by Kosaku Sawada in 1939 to add beautiful gardens to an experimental fish hatchery. The gardens continue to grow under the care of volunteers for over 80 years. We have a new parking area and western trailhead for the first mile of the Three Mile Creek Greenway Trail.

A nice little piece of nature. Short walking paths and also connected to a larger city one. It's mostly volunteer run so there is work and maintenance to be done. I had wished there were identifying signs for the plants but there were some nice motivational signs about the importance of getting out into nature. Can't complain, it's Free!

10/10 definitely recommend. I did some great grounding at this garden. Spending time in nature is so essential for healthy mental. I will say though there were SO many spider webs off the beated path. But stick to the path and all is well. I kinda wish I was able to explore a lil more. But the grass was well maintained with beautiful flowers that's scattered throughout.

With all the improvements this place is so very beautiful. There's lots of flowers, especially during fall weather. It's always fun for us to see the koi and turtles. We also love the new pathway and can't wait to fully walk it to see how the rest of the area it.. It is a really great peaceful place in town to enjoy nature.

I recently visited the Mobile Japanese Garden along with my friend. The garden is quite close to the Mobile Museum of Art. We visited the garden after visiting the museum. There is no designated parking however it's an open area where you can park. The trail was quite decent in distance. We didn't cover the full trail however we went until the mid point. The waterfall is located near the entrance of the trail. We clicked some nature friendly pictures for our socials. It's a good place to come for a walk. The rocks near the falls might be a little slippery so wear the shoes accordingly. Overall a nice place to calm the personality in the hustle bustle.

Oh wow, oh wow, oh WOW!!! Never would you expect such a peaceful and serene spot in the middle of Mobile! A wonderful place to get some sunshine and exercise, and some peace of mind! We loved every second we spent here! Feeding the coy fish and turtles were great! The mindfulness signs that remind you to connect with nature were also great! A great peace of Japan in Alabama! We plan on coming back to have a picnic!
